The Nigeria Football Federation has
expressed satisfaction with the performance of Super Eagles Team B, campaigning
at the ongoing African Nations Championship in South Africa.
·
First Vice Chairman of the
federation, Chief Mike Umeh told Sports Vanguard in Cape Town that the team
have done well so far and even if it crashes out at this stage of the
tournament the board will not do anything rash.
·
’’I want to assure you that heavens
will not fall, even if the team lose to Morocco on Saturday. Football is a
sporting event. If we lose, we will take it in good faith. Look at the fact
that even the hosts are out. In football, like every other game, you win some
and you lose some,’’ Umeh said, but quickly added, ‘’well, so far, the boys
have been playing well after their defeat to Mali so I don’t expect they
lose.’’
·
The former chairman of Rangers
International football club of Enugu recalled that South Africa had been a
‘’fertile ground’’ for Nigerian teams in the past and Saturday’s match won’t be
an exception.
·
‘’We have been playing well in South
Africa, we have a pedigree. Remember only last year our senior team was here to
pick the Afcon. We are going to get past Morocco whom we respect very well,
anyway,’’ Umeh said.
·
’’We know the North Africans play
fast and tactically sound but we have a technical bench that can outwit them.
Keshi and his team know what to do. We should expect a good game.’’
